Late to the show again. Wayne asked me to post some photos in this thread and I had trouble with the zip files.
I totally forgot about them at that point. Here are the photos he has not already posted. Sorry I didn't get that done promply.

Thanks: Right now working on hood & bogie wheels. My son dropped off the hood he finished Sunday night. He said paint & clearcoat must cure for about a week before putting on decals. I think she shines probably better than when she was young in 71. will post pics later. We are drilling out rivets on each bogie wheel, cleaning, sandblasting, priming & painting each individual part of them , then repacking with wheelbearing grease & reassembling them.

I would hold off longer than a week on the decals. I have seen some awful peeling and cracking occur when decals are applied too soon. I think the adhesive contains a bit of solvent that affects the new paint.

Exactly the explanation he gave me. I think it wise to hold off a little longer to & be sure. Appreciate the input.

Take it out in some sunshine for some IR and UV curing of the paint also if possible. The new paint can also contain solvents that attack the material of the decal.

Old timers have told me that if you can still 'smell' the new paint, it is too soon. I guess the vapors that make it smell like new paint are the same vapors that need to evaporate out of the paint.
