Hi everyone, great forum, this is my first post Cheesy

I recently bought a 1983 Yamaha Excel III as my first sled ($500).

This thing hauls butt, I weigh 350+ and it scoots to 70mph in no time, without studs.

My main question is can I stiffen up the rear suspension to accommodate my big butt?

My second question is my speedo reads 10mph fast (compared to my relatives newer sled)

My third question is my idle.......

She starts good, runs good, will idle for about a minute then die, if I lift the choke a tiny bit or barely put pressure on the throttle she will idle, but with the throttle the rpms will increase a little but not with the choke, she'll just idle fine.

This is her.

The rear spring can be tightend up by turning the adjutment blocks on the skid frame to Decrease the bottoming out (be sure to adjust both sides the same). If yours is a mono shock suspension just rotate the spring collar to increase spring tension.

as for the speedo, snow speed is relative. The newer sleds have better traction and less track slippage also they probly are more closley set to actual speed from the factory.

as for the idle if just a little throttle is needed to keep it running. i would set the throttle plate adjustment screw.
