Scored this old Skeeter at that auction in Zumbrota,MN. It was a rusty ass barn fresh orphan. The engine was not locked up, and I did run it for a few minutes but is was not happy, did not want to idle etc., probably bad seals.

Any how upon disassembly I found the engine cases had broken motor mounts. I found another engine just a mile from home, this one laid on a dirt floor in a shed for 30 years, but it was rebuild-able.

I found the wiseco pistons on e-bay, as was pleased to find they were high compression, and had pins to locate the rings. This allowed me to widen and raise the exhaust ports a bit.  Darn thing runs pretty good, I now wish I had completely removed 2 of the bridges in the exhaust port. I am using the stock exhaust and clutch for now. The thing is supposed to be 14hp @ 5000 is that right? I am hoping to get 15 at 5500.

I do have a Rampage, but this is my first Johnson OMC engine rebuild. Dam these motors are so different, but very nice to work on, and seem to be bullet proof.

Found a screw laying against the reeds! It may have been there since new?
